”La Mar d’Amics” aims to recover the maritime heritage in the “Països Catalans” (Catalan countries) and diffuse their traditional navigation. The association situated in Palamós, a town on the Catalan Costa Brava, is a member of the federation “Federació Catalana per la Cultura i el Patrimoni Marítim i Fluvial” and cooperates with other associations, local institutions and museums.

Within the tasks of recovery of the material and inmaterial maritime heritage, the association is carrying out the restoration of Elvira, a fishing boat from 1942, as well as the research, writing and publishing of the terminlogical dictionary “Paraules de Mar – Recull terminològic de navegació tradicional” (Words of the Sea – Terminological dictionary of traditional navigation), a graphic dictionary about marine terms. In addition, monthly events about heritage and navigation are organised from the association.
